When it comes to chasing speed, enough is never enough. Modifying golf carts for performance pleasure is quickly catching on and it takes many forms. Check out this golf cart with motorcycle swap designed for sand slinging off road fun. For the street, there's also another golf cart that has been modified to do 150+ mph! This is just the beginning, golf cart modification can really be pushed to the limit. Let's create a mock setup just for fun!
Instead of a 750cc engine, let's push the envelope and go for a Kawasaki ZX14 engine. With a couple of modifications such as a turbocharger, nitrous, methanol injection, rebuilt pistons and bored/stroked internal work, ported/polished heads, etc we could have a full blown 200+ mph monster of an engine. There's no way a standard golf cart setup can take this kind of speed, so we'll have to lower the center of gravity and modify the aerodynamics. The cart would need to be modified so that the driver sits on the floor, with the surroundings of the cart being modified to reflect the changed seating position. A carbon fiber shell to provide the aerodynamics required to keep the cart stable would be a must. Custom built suspension fabricated for top speed stability would also improve the driving experience and top end. Now we've got a full blown racing golf cart (in reality we've created a mini F1), all we need is a loose nut behind the wheel to operate the thing. Any takers?
