With a little bit of a tune and some ECU hacking, one could easily achieve over 300 horsepower by a tweak of the timing, fuel, and boost. If you want to add free flowing exhaust and larger intake, the Volkswagen Golf R should easily hit 300 whp on a dyno with the right tune and boost settings. For those seeking the ultimate in performance, the Golf R lives up to it's historically prevalent reputation for street racing. Adding a huge turbo, such as a .57 or bigger, larger fuel system, porting the heads, larger headers, and dumped exhaust one could easily achieve 400 whp on the dyno. Upgrade the suspension and lighten the chassis, and you could be sitting in a very potent autocross machine. Even if mods aren't your thing, the Volkswagen Golf R comes stock ready to perform as seen in the following video.
