Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 top speed run on Malaysian highway

The following clip shows a Nissan Skyline GTR R34 performing a top speed run around 170 miles per hour down a public interstate in Malaysia. It might not be the fastest car on the block, but 170 miles per hour is nothing to shake a stick at. At this speed, death isn't just a possibility it's a probability. Should any single variable go wrong in the formula of your vehicle, you're toast; it's that simple. Cars that are prepared for these speeds still have fatalities when wrecks occur. Aside from the safety disclaimer, how cool is it to see a Nissan Skyline ripping down the road at 170+ miles per hour? Yeah, this is awesome. Discuss this article with CarDomain.com

The Nissan Skyline GTR R34 is one of the most highly desired Skylines produced. The R34 is the fifth generation of the Nissan Skyline GTR, and is considered by most as the last "true" GTR Nissan ever produced. The latest rendition of Nissan's Godzilla, the R35, just doesn't have that performance or design edge that most hardcore Skyline fans enjoy; and thus the explanation of losing the Skyline name.

The R34 GTR came with the RB26DETT, which is the most highly desired JDM engine ever produced. An inline six cylinder engine paired with a twin turbocharged forced induction system was ideal for the AWD layout Nissan chose for the R34. With a compression ratio of 8.5:1 and red line at 8,000 RPM, the RB26DETT churned out generous stock power levels of 327 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and an astounding 400 foot pounds of torque at just 4,400 RPM. Despite stock rating levels of 280/293 to dodge the insurance bullet, the true Skyline fans understand the power behind "real" numbers. It's these high horsepower numbers and perfectly placed gearing that allow the Nissan Skyline GTR R34 to achieve such a high rate of speed in such little time. While watching the following flick, pay special attention to the gearing and optimal low end torque boosting the Skyline into oblivion.
