Nissan takes flight over road into trees

This is by far one of the craziest car stunts I've ever seen. In the back sticks of Clonakilty, Ireland there's a man who sits on coconuts and jumps cars over public roads into the brush. Only known by as YouTube user MetalGear2k2, his video quickly climbed to 15,000 views in just 24 hours. Watching the video below, you can quickly see why. It's one thing to have a professional team of engineers build a ramp, calculate the jump path, etc., but it takes a soul with truly no fear to accomplish a jump like this. One wrong angle, and death could surely follow suit!

Let's face it, the Nissan Micra is by far not the safest vehicle for this kind of jump. It only weighs 1,488 pounds and features anywhere from a .9 to 1.2 liter engine! That's not much in front of you should anything bad happen, and we all know that trees don't bend; cars do! The good thing about the small engine is that the car is well balanced, and it won't nose plow through the air like vehicles of similar chassis structure but heavier engines. Even though it's better to fly through the air, this is by no means a jump worthy vehicle.

Sporting only 75 bhp, it's no wonder the jumpers used a hill to their advantage. I'd say by watching the film they jumped it anywhere from 40 to 60 miles per hour, just enough to clear the road and land the jump. If you watch closely, you'll see he landed the jump as well! Move over Ken Block and Travis Pastrana, the real rally drivers of Europe are coming back! Sure we drive well here with our big dollar sponsorships, but in all honesty the real rally folks are racing through backwoods roads in England, Ireland, and western Europe.
