Tesla Roadster: 0-60 in dealership's lobby

Testing the acceleration of a Tesla on the track is what most would consider a standard in today's specification research. However, Tesla decides to push the limit and test their Tesla Roadster Sport inside of a dealership. How is this possible? Thanks to instant torque created by the electric motor, it allows the Tesla to reach the glorious 60 mph zone within just 3.7 seconds. That's great for instant acceleration, but after the torque is no longer needed and horsepower is required for top speed, the Tesla falls on it's face. It's a great car, but they still have some improvements to do before they can claim supercar status.

Tesla Roadster Sport specifications:
  • 288 horsepower @ 14000 RPM
  • 273 foot pounds of torque @ 0-5400 RPM
  • Curb weight: 2723
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Automatic transmission
According to the specifications above, it's pretty obvious that the Tesla Roadster is a great low end vehicle with instant torque. Emulating that of muscle cars, the instant torque gratification off the line is a treat. However, once the vehicle reaches around 80 to 100 miles per hour, it falls on it's face. The following video is one for the books, as Tesla has stepped out of the normal realm and into science fiction. Playing with the notion of "Back To The Future", Tesla is making a bold statement. Of course the car really can't time travel, but what they are insinuating is that it's immediate acceleration is enough to satisfy even the likes of Doc and Marty. Corny, funny, and entertaining, the following clip is sure to be one of Tesla's classic propaganda flicks for years to come.
