Nissan 200sx maximum speed testing

A nicely built and modified Nissan 200sx attempted a top speed run, and without flaw completed the attempt perfectly. Registering a generous 275 kph, this is one fast 200sx! The beauty of the 200sx is it's large engine bay, low center of gravity, rear wheel drive balanced setup. They handle extremely well, and when used for drifting are very balanced and easily controlled. Once into the slide, the driver can open up the throttle and just let the tires roll. However, when modified for top speed it's a different setup and build. Sliding sideways is definitely fun, but driving 170 mph is much more exhilarating.

There's nothing like a high speed rush, and the Nissan 200sx when properly modified can provide boosted fun to even the most glutinous performance junky. Rear wheel drive coupled with a light weight chassis and a 1.6 or 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engine. Since the infamous SR20DE engine has been produced, it's been a favorite of performance hounds everywhere. DOHC with four valves per cylinder, 34mm/30mm  intake and exhaust valves, this combination created 140 horsepower at 6400 RPM and 132 foot pounds of torque at just 4800 RPM.

Those are small numbers, but when the Nissan 200sx is properly modified it can reach numbers as high as 600 horsepower with boost, bolt on mods, some internal work, and a tune. The beauty of the SR20DE engine is the bore and stroke values of 86x86 and compression ratio of 9.5:1 creates a perfect motor for boosting and achieving high numbers on the dyno. The 200sx is a vehicle that has secured it's placed in JDM history, and is most widely known for it's drifting antics both on and off the track like the following top speed run. This high speed test of faith and mortality takes place on a public interstate during a low traffic hour. As dangerous as it is crazy, the video is a great example of the Nissan 200sx's ability to diversify out of drifting into the world of top speed. Balance is balance, and it works in high speed just as well as in drifting.
