Mitsubishi Evolution vs. Nissan GT-R R35

The race between all-wheel drive JDM giants shows us just how close a $30,000 Mitsubishi EVO can contend against the very expensive Nissan GT-R. Considering the most bang for buck, the Mitsubishi wins hands down and only registers the quarter mile only .107 seconds slower. Not bad considering the hefty price tag and extreme JDM notoriety of the Nissan GT-R. When properly modified, the Mitsubishi EVO is an amazing straight line performance vehicle. It's typical contender, Subaru Impreza WRX STi cranks out less power but is much more capable through the corners due to it's symmetrically balanced design. If it's straight line performance you are looking for, look no further than the Mitsubishi EVO.

The following race illustrates just how technology and a V6 with all-wheel drive can dominate over the highly regarded Mitsubishi Evo. Only winning by a fraction of a second, the price comparison result is in strong favor of the Evo. However, winning is winning and the GT-R clearly wins this race. Pay attention to the initial launch, it appears as if the Evo may have performed an improper launch and thus the time difference.

Making use of aftermarket products and tuning with the Mitsubishi Evo can surely build the vehicle to a high enough performance stature to kill the stock GT-R. However, if you apply the same tuning and investment into the GT-R that result is pretty straight forward. At the end of the day, all that really matters is weight, power, and driving skill. If you have a lighter car with more power and a decent driver behind the wheel, chances are that you will win. The following race is too tough to call whether or not the Evo's loss was to driver error, or a plain lock of modifications. What do you think? Comment below!
