Police crush street racing vehicle

In Dandenong Victoria, Australia a street racing "hoon" car was crushed by the Victoria police. A hoon car is a vehicle that makes the loud wining "hoon" sound as the exhaust flows freely. The rest of the world calls these vehicles ricers, tuners, JDM, etc. Even though there is a distinct difference between JDM and ricers, most people walking the planet don't know the difference and group them together. The crushing of this vehicle might as well have been a fully built GT-R, Evo, etc. The vehicle being crushed is a mildly modified Holden Commodore. Even though the vehicle is rather tame, in this case it's not the vehicles fault but the driver. 

According TheAge.Drive.com, the vehicle's owner was a repeat offender and considered a public danger. Even though the car has been wasted, tax money has been wasted, and negatively affecting the environment by such waste, the good thing behind this story is that police didn't crush this car preemptively. Canadian officials however, have been destroying cars that are modified even if they weren't caught breaking any laws.

A question arises as to where the line in the sand must be drawn. On one extreme, some authorities are destroying cars without remorse before they even break the law. Now in Australia, they're waiting until the offender gets three strikes and is considered a public danger before crushing the vehicle. Then out in left field, we have the adverse affect on green ideology that complains about the amount of waste. If the waste isn't bad enough, once street racers find out that cars are being crushed they're more enticed to flee from police.

Crushing cars is not the answer! Even more, illegal street racing as a whole is still considered a very minor cause of preventable death. National level statistics, and even statistics from the highest concentrated street racing county in America are still a fraction of the common forms of preventable death and do not constitute "plague" status as some media members will lead you to believe.
