The best van burnout ever!

Using a Mitsubishi utility van as the body and a 400 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine swap, this 9 second van was able to create what most consider to be the best van burnout ever! Who knew that swapping a monster racing engine into a Mitsubishi Delica could be so much fun! The Mitsubishi Delica is primarily a work van, designed for transporting small to medium sized parts, boxes, etc. Weighing in at a hefty 3700 pounds, the Delica is actually much heaver than it looks. The engine that comes with this van is nowhere near as powerful as the 400 cu. in. V8 that was swapped into the van shown in this video. Upgrading from a 1.4 liter inline four cylinder engine to a massive V8 sure must have been a trick!

More awesome burnout videos!

This isn't the first time a massive V8 has been swapped into a vehicle that comes stock with a four banger. Many V8 swaps happen all the time, and to some cars you might not suspect. Mazda Miatas and RX7's are typical targets for 350 cu. in. LS1 V8 swaps, as well as the infamous Nissan 240 series. Some even go to the extent to swap a LS1 into the Subaru Impreza, but honestly you can make just as much power with the boxer engine. When swapping an engine you must remember that power numbers aren't everything, and adding that huge chunk of weight to the front of the vehicle will change the handling characteristics drastically. If you are concerned about track or circuit time, stick with the stock engine or comparable size. If you are looking to build a drag racing or tire burning machine, then the big V8 swap is for you!
