They race two tests, one a launch and the other a rolling start. From a stand still launch, the Corvette Z06 is eaten alive by the Lamborghini's traction control system and all-wheel drive. Powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine cranking out 553 horsepower and 398 ft. lbs. of torque, this is a rather unfair comparison race. This vehicle should be racing against the Corvette ZR1 and not the Z06. Regardless of displacement or power classifications, the Z06 doesn't do too bad in the rolling start race. The Z06 features more torque than the Gallardo, allowing it to compensate at top speed for the gap in horsepower.
The price difference of the two vehicles is another deciding factor. Considering the total value of the Gallardo vs. Z06, the Corvette wins by a large maring. More bang for buck value exists within the Z06. Take the gap of cost between the Z06 and Gallardo and invest it into performance modifications on the Z06 and you will have a rocket that will kill the Gallardo in any comparison.
Modifications on the Gallardo are extremely tough and can only be performed by trained mechanics, while the Corvette modifications can be done by anyone with a wrench and minimal shade tree knowledge. The Corvette is the true tuners vehicle, but the Gallardo brings more luxury and prestige. It's all about what you want as a driver, I would personally take the Corvette heavily modified over any vehicle; except a Subaru.
